Mobile Health For Mamas: HPV Testing and Treatment Program

Cervical cancer is nearly 100% preventable with early detection and treatment.

Yet, every 2 minutes a woman dies from cervical cancer. That’s why we’re bringing our best tools to the places with the fewest resources.

Nearly 90% of cervical cancer deaths occur in areas where access to preventative care is extremely limited. The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Testing & Treatment Mobile Clinic is the first of its kind to bring the most advanced cervical cancer prevention technology out of the healthcare facility and directly into the community.

How It Works:

Step 1

Our trained community health workers visit the homes of women in their own communities to provide cervical cancer education and screening. Women are instructed through self-collecting their sample for HPV testing within the privacy and comfort of their own homes.

Step 2

Women's samples are analyzed in our solar-powered mobile laboratory.

Step 3

Women receive their results via text message, and if positive for HPV, they are invited to receive further examination and potential treatment at a mobile clinic that we organize directly in their community.

Step 4

At the mobile clinic, our trained healthcare providers conduct a vaginal examination and, if necessary, thermal ablation treatment—a painless procedure that destroys precancerous cells in less than 1 minute. A social worker present at the clinic enrolls women requiring advanced care in our patient navigation program, leading the referral process to local health facilities and providing socioemotional counseling.
