The Health of the Woman is the Health of the Family

Team Riviere, captained by Mamta Singhvi MD, set out for Hospital Grand Riviere du Nord to establish the MacNaughton Family Clinic. Our group derived inspiration from a patient who nearly declined treatment. Although she was dealing with immense pain, we encouraged her to proceed with cryotherapy because we didn’t want to risk losing her to follow up. Fortunately, she understood the importance of treatment and its role in preventing her precancerous cervical lesions from progressing. Each member of the team demonstrated empathy and compassion to make her feel comfortable, and we were ultimately rewarded by the hugs, smiles, and “merci” she gave us before we parted ways. Additionally, we certified two new nurses who excelled at the procedure thanks to their prior training with CCC/IMC Nurse AnneMarie. Nurses Charles Marie Huguette and Alexandre Magdala (pictured above) will continue to screen and treat patients at this location on a weekly basis.
