CCC's Angel Donor's Viewpoint on the Vietnam Program
After a busy, and productive day of observing CureCervicalCancer’s clinic at the Quang Ninh Major Reproductive Center, I was able to tour CCC’s existing satellite clinic in Hoanh Bo as well as the site of CCC’s future clinic in Uong Bi with Dr. Gordon and Dr. Dzung today. I have loved travelling with CCC as well as the amazing team of local healthcare professionals that we have gathered together, especially Dr. Dzung who is the director of the Quang Ninh Center for Reproductive Health. An inspiring and implacable force, she spent a great deal of time reaching out to the local women who lined up for hours outside of the clinics to receive screening and treatment. I am truly impressed by her passion and enthusiasm, as she is not only a healthcare provider but also an advocate for her people. As a small testament to her vision, she took a team of healthcare professionals out to the most remote fishing villages of this region to provide three days of screening for the women of these communities and also organized government subsidies for cryotherapy, as the majority could not afford it. Her passion is one of the reason why the Vietnam program continues to thrive. I am delighted to see that the previous trainees have now become the trainers and also that the new trainees have the opportunity to hone their skills under the watchful eye of the CCC team. I think CCC’s work in Vietnam is phenomenal, and I am proud of the women who keep the programs going strongly long after we have left the region. I’m glad to be part of a program that not only helps women but also puts the best people in charge of such an important part of so many lives. Indeed, I have committed to establishing another clinic in Vietnam in the near future and look forward to returning!
