This is my first trip to Africa as well as traveling with the CureCervicalCancer team. So far it’s been amazing! I’m an LVN living in Los Angeles, studying to become an RN.My role on the team is the registration of all the women who will be screened and treated. Although this job has it’s challenges, I enjoy making personal connections with the women of Kisii. I also have the pleasure of working side by side with the Ministry of Health and International Medical Corps staff. They have been a tremendous help in translating and helping with the intake of patient information. One person that stands out in particular is Deborah Mogoa RN. She has been my partner since Day one. She is a very kind woman who is married and lives the local region. She is a true example of a dedicated worker, much like the other women I have met. I hope I have the pleasure of returning to this community and equally as importantly to continue to serve as a volunteer for CureCervicalCancer for years to come.
